Further research and the direction of my project

At the moment we are in the middle of the term (week 5) so it is important to know where I am in terms of research and if what I have done so far has really helped me to develop my project.

Sketch of Amaterasu

Right now I have already done two different types of research: primary and secondary research. In terms of the secondary research I looked at a variety of subjects: Kitagawa Utamaro, the Edo Period, the Shinto religion and the Kami's. In terms of primary research, I already made some experiments using watercolours and watercolours markets, which are the materials that I will use. I thought it was important to try these out so that I get used to it and avoid making basic mistakes. Furthermore, in order to make my skecthes I have been looking to a variety of photographies inspired in the Japanese culture, which helps me to visualize and draw the Kami anatomically correct.

As soon as possible I will start my research about each kami separately, because I believe this will inform my work. I will be able to represent key elements connected to the Kami in order for people identify it. Moreover, I will continue to explore the media that I am going to use as well as the colour palette through colour studies.
