Primary research
In previous posts I planned my primary research, so this week I actually made it. As I mentioned before, because I am not used to work with neither watercolours nor watercolour markers, I thought it was important to make some experiments.
This was some of the experiences I made:
Although it is kind of a mess, it was useful for me to try my colours out and understand how I could create different patterns with it, which at the end of the day is more important than the presentation itself. This sheet of paper might also work as reference once I start to define my colour palette since I tried the colours of the markers.
You might also consider how you can use observational drawing as primary research. For example, in your illustrations fabric is an important part of the designs. How can you draw folds in fabric? Practice by draping a towel or sheet over a hook or door and draw the folds.
