First thoughts: Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz
In this post I will talk about the lecture we had in this week, as well as my first thoughts and impressions.
In this week's lecture we talked about Gerogia O'Keeffe, an american painter, and Alfred Stieglitz, a german photographer. To be honest I was not amazed by their works, they made imporant contributions for the world of art and I don't doubt their value, but they are not artists that are going to influence me or my art.
Altthough O'Keeffe's paintings were beautiful made, and had interesting forms, I am not very fond of them. Some of them remind me those paintings that are made in series for hotels, for example. On the other hand, I liked Stieglitz's photographys, especially the one entitled "From the Black Window" (1915), which, on my point of view, presents a misterious atmosphere. The fact that there is not much contrast is also very interesting and the prespective itself makes the scene too look different from the usual. It almost seems like it was taken from an horror film, before all the action happens.
Okay it is good tat you have an opinion - I think stating why they were important might have been useful though
