Avaritia: Process

This week I concentrate my work in doing sketches and making the painting of the sin of Greed. In this painting I incorporated part of my research through its punishment which consists in being boiled alive in oil, the frog and the colour yellow.

This was the final result:

For this sin I made two different sketches.

The first was in the beginning, so I was still not sure what I was going to do and I was just trying to put my ideas in the paper:

When I finally had an idea what I was going to do, I made a second sketch, using some images as reference:

After being satifised with the sketch I started to draw the final piece:

Then I added the first layer of colours, mixing it with water so that I could visualize the colour palette:

I added some shadows and highlighted the face:

Finally I added some more details and lighlighted some more elements:

I really liked to do the face of it, and thanks to the paintingof the sin of pride it was easier this time. However, if I finish the project earlier I want to do more deatils in this painting. For this, I used, as I mentioned before, acrylic and an A2 size paper with 400gsm. I only used two flat paint brushes from the brand Milan: the number 8 and the number 4.

These were some of the images that inspired my painting:

Having these images was very important. Otherwise I would not be able to incorporate my ideas as I wanted in the painting.
