Considering my work and the real world

In  today's session we discussed how art has influenced society thought the last decades. Artists such as John Heartfield, Barbara Kruger and Stella McCartney have influenced the world and made society to think in another point of view. It is important to understand that as artists we are not an island, we are not isolated, and that what we create can have a huge impact in others.

Keeping this in mind I tried to reflect about how my work will influence the viewer.

According to Shinto religion, the Kami's appeared due to our desires and wishes, so at the end of the day they are a representation of our intimate, of us, human beings. It might not be directly, since my project does not have a specific message, but I think that it will spread a different perspective and a different way of living and thinking. I am not saying that people will start to follow a different religion but will at least broaden their horizons to the world around them.

Although my project does not represent a point of view, it represents a different perspective of life. Everyone I know is Christian and that is the only religion that makes sense to them. However, in this project I will represent a part of another religion, that they probably don't know about. It is not that my project is important, what is important is to broaden our horizons to different cultures and ways of living. It is important to understand people who think in different ways in order to better understand and comprehend the world.
