Set Project: First Thoughts

For the Art Portfolio Project, it was proposed three themes: 

1. Oriental Surprise. Explore the art of the Orient both traditional and contemporary
2. Primitivism. Enjoy a ride into the past.
3. Ultimate Black. Create your pieces using the colour of night.

It was given me the opportunity to choose the one that I prefer to work with and interprete these themes the way I want. For this project I need to develop in the next few weeks four 2D outcomes and one 3D. Considering this, the "Oriental Suprise" and the "Ultimate Black" were my favourite ones, and I believe there are many concepts that I could use in these. The theme "Primitivism" might have been interesting to research about but I did not have any idea of a concept that I could use with this theme or that I would like to develop, so I just move on to choose one of the other two.

In order to choose the theme and develop my ideas, I looked at some concepts that had drawn my attention. I started by the Ultimate Black but to be honest the majority of the ideas I had transmited negative emotions and messages (such as depression, the Dark Ages and sadness) and I believe that at times like the one that we are living that is not the right message to pass to other people or at least it is not the message that I want to pass or even develop.

Keeping this in mind, I had 5 different ideas for the theme "Oriental Surprise", which I developed in Milanote. You can find these, as well as what I am thinking to do, in the image below but you can also find it in here. 

Although I have already an idea of what I want to do, in my next posts I will do some initial research in order to help me choose which concept I would like to use with this theme.
