Skills practice: Drawing a composition

During the last session, we photographed different compositions after watching a video connected to this subject. I tried two different themes.

For the first one I used a basket of fruit, fabric and paper:

For the second compostion I used artificialflower, a glass and a bottle of whiskey:

I made one more composition but I did not like as much as these so it wasn't even an option when I was choosing which one I was going to draw. I ended up drawing the last composition since I liked the contrast between cool and warm colours as well as the different textures it has.

After choosing the photo, my tutor gave us several drawing exercises which would take about 5 minutes each.

The first was to draw the composition in 5 minutes:

The second to draw with a single line:

The third to draw with my non-dominant hand:

And, lastly, we had to draw the composition in about 45 minutes, giving it shadows and highlights:

Since my progressing route is Fine Art I was very happy witht the session itself. It allowed me to practice my observational and drawing skills. The final drawing could be better, and have more detail but it would take too long and the essential parts are in there.
