Process: Tsukuyomi
I have already finished the outcome of the kami Amaterasu, so I moved on to the next kami: Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto. This outcome took me a lot more time that it should have since I did it two times. In this post I will share both of the paintings and explain why I decided to redo it.
This was the final result of the first attempt:
Then I added the masking fluid:
After this I started to paint the first layers of the background:
However due to the great amount of water and the paper itself, the colour was not uniform so I added some plants in the front of the drawing. At this point I already didn't like the paintin but I tried to ended it either way. This was the final result:
So I tried to make another version:
But, once again I didn't like it. This time I didn't waste time trying to paint it and moved on to another drawing.
I didn't like any of the previous drawing because they weren't similar to the first painting of Amaterasu. This would have a negative impact in the consistency of the collection which is something that I always had in consideration. For this reason, I decided to do the drawing again. This time I had in mind the first sketche that I made:
Once again, it took me about 4 hours to finish the drawing. However I forgot to take pictures, during the first part of the process since I was starting to feel a lot of pressure and I had already drew this kami at least 3 times.
Afterwards I made a background:
Reflection about the process and outcome
Since I was able to complete my first painting in the first attempt I wasn't expecting that the second would take me so long to complete or to at least to be happy with the result. However, I am glad I did not give up and tried to do it again.
It was stressful to see time passing by. I was never happy with what I was doing and that was starting to get on my nerves, but once I calmed down I was able to do the work as I wanted.
